A room full of joy!! Levi's birth story

Caribou coffee is where I first met Jill, we talked all baby and birth things. There is when I felt the joy from her and it continued on her birthing day.

Fairly early in the morning I got the text from Jill saying they were headed to the hospital, st francis in Shakopee MN, it was time for baby! On her due date none the less! Fun fact: did you know only approximately 5% of babies are born on their due date? Another fun fact: I have had 4% of my clients give birth on their due date.

As soon as I entered the room that morning I felt the joy from everyone there, it filled the room!  In between pushes mom was even smiling! The joy was contagious.

Grandma and Auntie were with mom and dad  to welcome beautiful Levi into the world.

Dad also got to grab his coffee and pop tarts. The same food he had the day of his first child being born. What a fun tradition!

That cord! So beautiful!

Otto's Birth Story- A beautiful connection

I had just crawled into bed when I received a text from Anna saying she was  at the hospital due to some pain in her belly, possibly a separated muscle, and she would keep me updated on if she was in labor or not. Less than two hours later I got a call that while being monitored she went from 4 cm to 6 cm dilated, they were going to admit her and that I could come whenever I liked. I photographed Anna's first birth and knew she delivered quickly. Luckily I live less than 2 miles from the hospital and I already had everything ready to go, I got dressed, ate an apple and headed to Saint Francis Medical Center in Shakopee (MN) excited and ready!

Anna's beauty never ceases to amaze me, while photographing her birth I couldn't help but think how beautiful her and her husband Nick's marriage is. The communication and unending support is inspiring and wonderful to be around. I could feel it in the room and I think you can feel it in the photographs as well. In fact, Anna had wonderful support all around! Her mom was their with her too and was an amazing support person, she always seemed to know when to step back and when Anna needed that extra support and she would step in and give that extra loving hand.

Little Miss Evelynn less than 2 hours old!

Evelynn's mom, dad, and I all had a plan. I, the birth photographer, was going to drive 3.5 hours Thursday night to photograph the birth that was scheduled for induction Friday morning. All was well..

Thursday morning came around at 8:21 AM and I was happily sitting in the dentists chair with my phone in hand (hey I am on call for 3 births I can never be without my phone during those times!) Sure enough I get a text and it's from Evelynn's mom... "my water just broke!!!" We knew she had a history of fast labors... so my heart was pounding and my head was thinking "I gotta get out of this dentist chair" So I messaged her back and said I will be on my way ASAP. I was about 1.5 hours away when I got the phone call that little miss Evelynn had entered the world at 10:15 AM! Talk about a fast birth! I got there as soon as I could and was able to capture this beautiful girl not even hours old.

Isn't she just the most precious little girl!

The 365 challenge No more.

I decided not to continue with the challenge anymore. Honestly, I got behind a while back, and I just have never been able to catch up. I love the challenge, but I found that this challenge was just one thing on my to do list that I haven't been doing, and there is no reason to stress myself out about.  I have been really busy with photo shoots lately, volunteer work, family life, etc. It won't be slowing down for a while. I decided it would be best for my sanity to just remove it from my plate. I do plan on posting random photos of our daily life. But the 365 challenge has come to an end. Bittersweet.

A little Tea Party Sneak Peak 152/365

My mom decided she wanted her granddaughters to have a tea party and she wanted me to photograph it! :) It was the cutest thing ever! However we were hot, sweaty and exhausted after the photo shoot! Getting them ready, setting it all up, and then photographing, making sure everyone was happy, no one was running away, no pushing, pulling, fighting, wrestling, and facing the same direction. Two the same age is serious business! haha!  But seriously, it was so fun!
